Aerodromes, Remote Airfields and Airstrips
Assessing the suitability of existing aerodromes, remote airfields and airstrips (either licenced / unlicensed) or potential sites for the development of such whether it be for short- or long-term use usually involves a comprehensive review.
The use of unregulated airfields/airstrips exposes operators to additional risks as many of the services and facilities provided at licenced airfields may not be available. Being unregulated, the facilities are not audited by National Aviation Authorities and therefore the maintenance and upkeep of the airfield may also not be of the highest standard. It is for these reasons that a formal risk assessment should be carried out before use
AviateQ offers a range of services including general guidance and advice, audit and inspection through to bespoke services based on customer requirements ranging from the selection of a suitable site to support aircraft operations, plans and drawings, costings, supporting applications to local authorities and oversight of development.
Different regulations apply to aerodromes based on their size and the type of flying activity taking or intended to take place. Audits and inspections are conducted to ensure that compliant operating procedures are in place and the facility and the associated ground support services provide for a safe environment for aircraft operations.
